Popback — Privacy Policy
Last updated 29 May 2026
Overview
Popback is built to respect your privacy. In short: it collects no personal information, contains no tracking or analytics, and keeps your data on your own Mac. The only time Popback may connect to the internet is to verify your licence key — and even then it sends nothing beyond what is needed to check that key. This policy explains exactly what that means.
1. Information Popback does not collect
Popback does not collect, record, or share any personal information. It contains no analytics, no usage tracking, no advertising, and no third-party tracking or marketing services. Aside from verifying your licence key (see section 2), Popback makes no network requests — it does not phone home, and it never transmits your data, your activity, or the contents of your windows anywhere.
2. Licence verification
Popback is unlocked with a licence key that you receive when you buy it. When you activate Popback, it may contact our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, to confirm that your licence key is valid. If it does, the only information involved is the licence key itself and, where needed, a basic identifier for the device you are activating — used purely to check and activate your licence. Popback does not send your name, your files, your window contents, or any usage information as part of this, and it makes no other network connections.
3. Information stored on your Mac
To do its job, Popback stores a small amount of information locally on your Mac, and only on your Mac:
- The windows you currently have snoozed — including the app name, window title, and the time each window is due to return. This is saved so your snoozed windows survive Popback or your Mac restarting.
- Your preferences — such as your chosen settings and your recent snooze durations.
This information is stored in your user Library on your Mac. It never leaves your device, and it is not accessible to the developer of Popback or to anyone else.
4. Accessibility permission
Popback asks macOS for Accessibility permission. It uses that permission for one purpose only: to hide, move, and restore windows on your Mac, on your behalf. Popback does not use it to read your screen contents, your keystrokes, your documents, or any other personal data, and nothing it does with that permission is ever transmitted off your device.
5. The website
This policy also covers the Popback website. The website is a single static page, deliberately built the same way as the app: it sets no cookies, runs no analytics or tracking, embeds no third-party scripts, and has no sign-up or contact forms. Simply browsing the site places nothing on your device, which is why you will not see a cookie banner.
- Hosting. The site is hosted on Cloudflare. As part of delivering and protecting the site, Cloudflare may process technical information such as your IP address and basic server logs. This is standard for website hosting and is handled under Cloudflare’s own terms.
- Buying Popback. Purchases are handled by our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, on their own checkout pages. You provide your details (such as your email and payment information) directly to Lemon Squeezy, who act as the seller (Merchant of Record) and are responsible for that information under their own privacy policy. We never see or store your card details.
If we ever add anything to the website that does collect data — such as an email newsletter sign-up or website analytics — we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Popback evolves. The current version is always available inside the app, and at www.popback.co.uk.
